10 Shortcuts and Tips to Quickly Work in Photoshop

In this post, you learn 10 tips/shortcuts in Photoshop to quickly do the work. If someone spends a lot of time on Photoshop, this is very useful for them, to quickly and easily done the work in short time. Because in the short time the more work you would done. So, we do not waste your time and let’s get started…

1.  Merge all Layers to New Layer

Merge the Layers: In this tip you learn how to Merge all of your existing layers to one new layer. Here is the key but long shortcut key. This is very important, select the top layer, then shortcut key is Ctrl+Shift+Alt+E. When you press these key Photoshop merge all your existing layers into one new layer at the top of the layer panel, your layers do not effected. Their positions and effects remain the same. So, you can save all your layers, everything of merge to one new nice layer. Crazy Hotkey… 


2.  Rotate View Tool

Rotate View Tool: Rotate View Tool very important tool. It is very useful when you use the paint brush tool and you want to rotate the image, at this time rotate view tool can help you to quickly rotate the image and paint to another section of the image. Press the letter “R” (Hotkey of rotation) it brings you the tool called “Rotate view tool”. Note: If your computer support Open GL or newly Graphic Card. You can use this tool by drag the mouse to rotate the image to degree° that you want. Switch to brush tool and paint where you want.  Again rotation press “R” to bring Rotate View tool and rotate the image. When all done, press the “Reset Viewbutton in the properties bar.


3.  Change Layer Opacity

Layer Opacity and Fill: You can change the Layer Opacity and Layer fill manually, but in this tip, you can learn the shortcuts to change the layer opacity and layer fill. Select the layer you want to change the Opacity or Fill. When the numbers increasing opacity or fill increasing by 10%. Note: Make sure that you selected the “Move Tool” shortcut “V”. Layer Opacity: Press number 1 opacity down to 10%, when press number 2 opacity 20%, press number 3 opacity 30%, 4 opacity 40%…..  And finally number 0 to opacity reset to 100%.  Layer Fill: To change the layer fill press Shift+1 to fill 10%, Shift+2 layer fill 20%, Shift+3 layer fill 30%…. And finally Shift+0 to reset the layer fill 100%.

Tool Opacity: You can also change the Tool Opacity and Flow by using these keys, press number 1 opacity down to 10%, when press number 2 opacity 20%, press number 3 opacity 30%, 4 opacity 40%….. And finally number 0 to opacity reset to 100%. Tool Flow: To change tool flow press Shift+1 to flow 10%, Shift+2 tool flow 20%, Shift+3 tool flow 30%…. And finally Shift+0 to reset the flow to 100%.


4.  Navigate the Layers Panel

Select the Layers: To select the layers (not move the layers), here are the hotkeys/shortcuts to select different layers in layers panel. So, press and hold Alt key and press “[“ (left square bracket start) to select the layers from top to bottom (descending order) or press “]” (right square bracket end) to select the layers from bottom to top (Ascending order). This is very cool...
Move the Layes: To quickly move the layers in the layers panel, here are the hotkeys/shortcuts to move the layer up or down in the layers panel. Press and hold the Ctrl key and press “[“ (left square bracket start) to move the layer from top to bottom (descending order) or press “]” (right square bracket end) to move the layer from bottom to top (Ascending order). 


5.  Change the Unit of Measure

In this tip, you learn how to change the unit of measure, like Pixels to Inches or Centimeters, Millimeters or Points. Show the Rulers: If rulers, not shown go to “View” tab in the menu bar and select “Rulers” or simply press Ctrl+R (shortcut of Rulers). Change the Measure Unit: Then right click on ruler bar and select the measure unit that you want (pixels, inches, centimeters, millimeters, points, picas or percent). You can view in info panel that the measuring unit is changed.


6.  Quickly Find the Center of Image

New Guide Layout: In this tip you learn how to quickly find the ceter of image, go to the View tab in the menu bar and select the “New Guide Layout”. A dialog box will appear set the 2 Columns and 2 Rows. Here we go. This is the exact center of your image. 


7.  Quickly Change the Color of the Object

Select the Object: To quickly change the color of object, select the object with the selection tool whatever you want depending on the object. I use the magic lasso tool to select the object that I want to change the color. Add Blank Layer: After selecting the object make new black layer at the top of the layer panel. Click on Blank Layer icon at the bottom of the Layer Panel. Then, with the “Brush Tool” shortcut “B”, select the color you want.
Paint the Object: Paint the object with brush tool. Important: After done, change the Mode from “Normal” to “Color”. This is very cool… 


8.  Quickly Change the Color of Text

Change Color of Text: To quickly change the color of text, here is the shortcut key to do this. The first thing to set the color as foreground color that you want to test. After choosing the color. Hit the keys Alt+Backspace+Delete


9.  Before / After preview

When you give some effect to the image, you have layers, layers and layers in your image and at any time you want to go back and view what the difference take place. It is very simply and cool. View the Original Image: To quickly view the original image that you start with, press and hold the ALT key, then click on “Background” layer eyeball. So, this is the original image that you work on it. View Final Image: To go back again, press/hold the ALT key and click on “Background” layer eyeball. Now we come back to the effects… 


10.  Bird eye View  

When you zoom into your image and at this time you want to view another part of this image, the quick way to do this. Bird Eye View: press/hold H” key, then right click of the mouse and release the “H” key, now double click left mouse button, and drag to another part that you want to view. Release the left click. You can quickly navigate through image with this trick.
